Ray Butler is a graduate from Miami University where he received a Masters Degree in Music Performance and a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education under the instruction of percussion teachers: Michael LaMattina and Patrick Schleker. During his time at Miami, he has performed in ensembles such as: marching band, wind ensemble, symphony band, symphony orchestra, and percussion ensemble,. Outside of his studies, he competed in a WGI group named Cap City. He currently teaches there now as a bass drum technician. 

As an educator and freelance percussionist, he previously taught in front of the percussion sections for Sycamore, Lebanon, and Finneytown marching bands. He composes percussion music for local high schools as well and is always looking for more people to write for! He is also a percussion sub for the Dayton Philharmonic. He has been teaching private lessons since he graduated at Miami University and is excited to work with students and teach percussion to students at all ages.
